Gadchiroli, June 30 -- : A councillor from Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district has been arrested for allegedly forging the district collector's signature and creating fake administrative approval orders to facilitate the release of funds for development works, police said on Tuesday.
The case came to light after District Mining Officer Imran Sheikh lodged a complaint alleging that unknown persons had forged the district collector's signature and misused the letterhead of the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) to prepare fabricated administrative sanction orders.
According to the complaint, the forged documents falsely indicated administrative approval and fund allocation for various development projects.
