Chandrapur, June 7 -- A major cyberattack has targeted the Chandrapur Cancer Care Foundation (Cancer Hospital), with hackers allegedly encrypting the hospital's entire database and demanding a ransom of nearly Rs 75 lakh in Bitcoin to restore access, officials said today.

The incident came to light on Friday after the hospital's IT department detected a technical issue in the main server on June 1 around 7.30 am.

During an internal probe, staff reportedly found a ransomware message displayed on the server, indicating unauthorised access by cybercriminals.

According to hospital sources, the attackers encrypted critical data, including patient records and administrative information, effectively locking the hospital out of its own database....
