Mumbai, Aug. 29 -- The Bombay High Court today came down heavily on Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials over the suspension of licences of five restaurants at the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) facility in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), warning them of contempt proceedings and imprisonment.
A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ravindra Ghuge and Justice Gautam Ankhad was hearing petitions filed by the MCA challenging the FDA's decision to suspend the licences.
The FDA had inspected the five eateries on August 20 and suspended their licences the following day, citing alleged food safety and operational deficiencies.
