Mumbai, June 25 -- The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly today witnessed a sharp exchange of words over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, particularly concerning passenger safety on the Mumbai suburban railway network, following the brutal murder of a commuter inside a local train earlier this week.
Taking serious cognisance of the matter, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar expressed deep indignation over the incident, which occurred in a moving local train between Andheri and Borivali stations, and ordered the state government to present a comprehensive statement on the floor of the House by Monday evening.
