Wardha, Aug. 15 -- : Three schoolgirls were killed after a private bus allegedly hit the two-wheeler they were riding near Dr Ambedkar School in Hinganghat town of Maharashtra's Wardha district on Friday morning, police said.

According to police, the three girls were travelling on a two-wheeler when the private bus hit them from behind on Friday morning. The impact left all three seriously injured and they succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased were identified as Samruddhi Rupak Dhamse (15), Aruhi Raju Chavre (17) and Misbah Javed Sheikh (17), all residents of the local area, officials said.

Police arrested the bus driver in connection with the accident.
