Mumbai, Sept. 13 -- The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized food products worth Rs 4.45 crore in a statewide crackdown against adulterated, sub-standard and improperly labelled food items ahead of the festive season.
FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said in a statement that enforcement teams conducted raids and inspections at multiple locations in Ahilyanagar, Pune, Nashik and Buldhana over the past two days.
The largest seizure was made in Ahilyanagar, where FDA officials raided M/s Arihant Cold Storage at MIDC on the night of September 10 and seized 7,535.8 kg of pasteurised unsalted cooking butter, marketed as 'Madurama Creamy Delight', valued at around Rs 3.95 crore.
