Nagpur, Sept. 6 -- Madvi Hidma, top tribal notorious and elusive commander of People's Liberation Gurrilla Army (PLGA) has been appointed new Secretary of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee of banned CPI (Maoist), sparking unease within the ranks amid growing friction between tribal cadres and the Telugu leadership.
Hidma, who hails from Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, now assumes charge of Naxal operations across the Dandakaranya region covering parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Telangana.
Security officials say the move reflects a shift towards empowering tribal fighters, especially Koyas, who have long accused Telugu leaders of sidelining them.
