Chennai, July 8 -- In a major relief, the Madras High Court on Wednesday evening granted conditional advance bail to DMK strongman and former Tamil Nadu Minister V.Senthilbalaji, also a current MLA, and his brother RV Ashok Kumar in the Rs 35 crore MLA bribery case in an alleged plot to topple the two-month-old TVK government of Chief Minister Vijay.

After hearing the detailed arguments, that lasted close to an hour, from both sides, Mr Justice G K Ilanthriyan, handling the cases relating to elected MPs and MLAs, granted bail on the condition that both of them should appear before the Invesgation Officer at the Triplicane police station twice a day, and that they should not tamper with the evidences of witnesses.
