Paris, April 14 -- French President Emmanuel Macron held separate telephonic conversations with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump, urging an immediate "return to diplomacy" and "de-escalation" amid rising tensions in the region.

In a statement, Macron called for the resumption of negotiations suspended in Islamabad, stressing the need to clarify misunderstandings and prevent further escalation.

He underlined that a comprehensive ceasefire must be strictly observed by all parties and should explicitly include Lebanon.
