Chandigarh, Sept. 5 -- Punjab is grappling with an imminent flood threat as a dam on the Satluj River near Sasrali village, along Rahon Road, teeters on the brink of collapse.

Heavy water flow has eroded the soil between the river and the dam, raising alarm among authorities. To mitigate the crisis, Army and NDRF teams have been deployed near the dam, with Police Commissioner Swapn Sharma and Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain personally overseeing operations on-site.

To prevent floodwaters from reaching the city in case of a breach, a 10-foot-high ring dam is being constructed 500 meters away to divert the river's flow. A potential dam collapse could inundate 14 villages in Ludhiana, affecting areas such as Rahon Road, Tibba Road, Tajpur ...
