London, Oct. 20 -- Celebrated Argentine flmmaker Lucrecia Martel's documentary 'Landmarks' has won the Best Film Award in the official competition at this year's London Film Festival (LFF).

According to Variety, the powerful documentary delves into the 2009 murder of Indigenous leader Javier Chocobar and examines the broader legacy of colonialism across Latin America.

The competition jury, led by president Elizabeth Karlsen, praised Martel's work for its depth and compassion. "With deep empathy and extraordinary journalistic and cinematic rigour, Lucrecia Martel dives into the events surrounding the 2009 murder of the Chavez leader Javier Chavez in Argentina's Tucuman Province," the jury said in a statement.
