LP area over Bay becomes well marked, conditions favourable for onset of SW monsoon around May 16

Chennai, May 13 -- The Low Pressure (LP) Area over the Bay has intensified into a Well Marked LP area favouring conditions for the onset of the Southwest Monsoon around May 16.

Met office in an update on Tuesday said rainfall occurred at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, while dry weather prevailed over TN, Puducherry and Karaikal area.

Maximum temperatures fell by 2-3 Deg C at isolated places over Tamil Nadu and no large change over rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area during the past 24 hours.

It said conditions are becoming favourable for the advance of southwest monsoon over parts of south Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and Andaman and Nicobar Islands around May 16.
