Chennai, Aug. 23 -- A new Low Pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay of Bengal which was expected to bring rains to several Northern and interior districts for two days and in Western Ghat regions till August 29.

Met office said under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation over North Bay of Bengal off West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts,a Low-Pressure Area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood today, and persists over the same region.

The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over North Keralam and neighbourhood at 7.6 km above mean sea level.
