Bhubaneswar, July 24 -- A low pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining the coasts of West Bengal and north Odisha under the influence of a cyclonic circulation, raising the likelihood of widespread rainfall across the state over the next few days, the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) of SOA Deemed to be University said on Friday.
In a weather bulletin, the CEC said the low pressure area, which is currently located over coastal West Bengal and the adjoining Bay of Bengal, is expected to intensify and trigger moderate to heavy rainfall across Odisha. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at a few places in the northern and western districts of the state between July 25 and 28.
