Chennai, Feb. 22 -- The Low Pressure Area over the Bay of Bengal has become Well Marked and persisted over the same region,before recurving gradually during the next 48 hrs, even as Southern and Northern districts of Tamil Nadu set to get heavy rains for thenext 2-3 days.
Met office in a latest update on Sunday said yesterday's Low Pressure Area over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean moved west-northwestwards and lay as a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over southwest Bay of Bengal at 0530 hrs and persisted over the same region at 0830 hrs today.
It is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards initially and then gradually recurve northeastwards over southwest Bay of Bengal (BOB) during the next 48 hrs.
