Shimla, July 15 -- Leader of Opposition and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday accused the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government of acting against the interests of apple growers by capping procurement of C-grade apples at 30 bags per orchardist under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS), terming the decision "gross injustice" to the horticulture community.
In a statement issued here, the BJP leader alleged that while the government was claiming to have introduced transparency in the apple procurement process, the new restriction would severely affect growers producing more than 30 bags of C-grade apples.
