Shimla, Aug. 2 -- Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday accused the state government of imposing steep fee hikes on the public before partially rolling them back following protests, alleging that the Congress dispensation was more focused on increasing charges than improving public services.
Thakur claimed that the Sukhu government had adopted a pattern of sharply increasing user charges and later reducing them after public opposition.
Referring to the recent revision in university fees, he alleged that the government had initially raised fees substantially and announced only a partial rollback after facing criticism.
