Panchkula, June 20 -- Government subsidies for livestock farming, promotion of indigenous cattle breeds and the role of gaushalas in rural development dominated discussions at a Farmers' Awareness and Cow Conservation Conference organised in Panchkula as part of a statewide outreach campaign marking 12 years of the Central Government.

The programme, held at Gauvan in Sector 23, brought together farmers, officials of the Animal Husbandry Department, veterinary experts and local representatives to discuss schemes aimed at boosting dairy farming and animal husbandry-based livelihoods. The event was chaired by BJP District Secretary Amarinder Singh.
