Mumbai, April 23 -- In a significant move to bridge the communication gap between commuters and drivers, Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has announced that it is now mandatory for non-Marathi drivers operating rickshaws, taxis, and aggregators like Ola, Uber, and e-bike services to communicate with passengers in Marathi.

The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting involving administrative officials, language experts, and prominent literary figures.

Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangh and Konkan Marathi Sahitya Parishad-have volunteered to provide training.
