Mumbai, Jan. 14 -- In a significant development for wildlife conservation, three lion cubs were born at Sanjay Gandhi National Park on January 11, 2026. The birth has been described as a positive milestone for conservation initiatives at the national park, which is regarded as the green lung of Mumbai.
The cubs were born to lioness Bharati and lion Manas, both of whom were brought to SGNP from Sakkarbaug Zoo as part of an animal exchange programme implemented under the Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi.
