Siliguri, May 11 -- Lightning occurrence patterns, vulnerable zones, district-wise assessments, and emerging risk trends across Sikkim between 2019 and 2025 were highlighted today with the release of the "Lightning Risk Atlas of Sikkim," a first-of-its-kind scientific document aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness and climate resilience in the Himalayan state.
The Atlas, prepared using the Lightning Detection Sensor (LDS) Network of the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), was released at the office of the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA).
