Sitapur, Nov. 15 -- A leopard that had been causing panic in villages near the river in the Maholi police station area of Sitapur district was finally captured, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The animal was trapped in a cage installed by the Forest Department in Musabarpur village on Friday night, bringing much-needed relief to local residents.
Divisional Director of Social Forestry (DFO) Naveen Khandelwal informed reporters on Saturday that the leopard had been frequently sighted in Musafirpur village under the Maholi Forest Range for several days. It had reportedly attacked several animals, creating fear among villagers and farmers working in nearby fields.
