Hassan, June 5 -- A leopard that injured five people in Hassan district triggered panic in forest-fringe villages on Friday before being captured by the Forest Department after an intensive operation, officials said.
According to forest officials, the big cat had strayed into human habitation and attacked residents who came in its proximity, leaving five persons injured before the situation escalated and emergency response teams were deployed.
Following the attacks, the Forest Department launched a combing operation involving staff, tranquillisation teams, and local volunteers to track the animal. After several hours of search, the leopard was successfully darted and captured.
