Jaipur, July 16 -- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said today that the Rajasthan Assembly has strengthened the democratic traditions of India for the past 75 years, upholding time-old legacy and conventions.
Addressing the inaugural session in the state assembly's "Vidhayi Gaurav Yatra" under the Amrit Mahotsav here on Wednesday, Birla defined legislatures as "Schools of Democracy" and the Rajasthan state legislature as his first and primary institute for teaching and inculcating in him tenets and values of the democratic system.
Birla stated that legislatures are not merely law-making institutions, but "schools of democracy" where lawmakers learn the values of dialogue, discipline, consensus, and service.
