Chennai, March 23 -- After hectic parleys and bargaining, a "dissatisfied" CPI(M), which demanded higher seats and climbed down to allot six seats, the same numbers it contested in 2021 polls, left with no option finally accepted the five seat offer of the ruling DMK, heading the formidable and multi-party Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), and inked the seat sharing pact with the Dravidian major on Monday night for the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.

The Marxist party, a long time ally of the DMK, was allotted the same seats that was given to CPI, though both were given six each in 2021.
