Chennai, June 13 -- Failure of the leadership to gauge the surging support for Vijay in the run up to the Assembly election and the visible divide between the party and the government has led to the electoral defeat of the DMK, according to a report submitted by a committee, constituted by party president MK Stalin to study the humiliating loss.

The party leadership at the top and at the district level were blamed for underestimating the support for Vijay and ignoring his appeal among various sections of society, especially women.
