London, May 11 -- Leandro Trossard scored a late goal as Arsenal edged West Ham United 1-0, restoring its five-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League and possibly condemning West Ham to relegation to the second division.

In a tense game that could have gone either way, Trossard exchanged passes with Declan Rice and saw his shot deflected into the net from 15 meters with just seven minutes left to play on Sunday.

There was late drama when West Ham striker Callum Wilson fired the ball into the Arsenal net in the fifth minute of stoppage time, but the goal was ruled out after a VAR check.
