Buenos Aires, Feb. 20 -- Striker Rodrigo Castillo scored late as Argentina's Lanus edged toward its first Recopa Sudamericana title with a 1-0 home win over Brazilian side Flamengo in the final's first leg.
Castillo broke the deadlock in the 77th minute at Ciudad de Lanus Stadium by meeting Sasha Marcich's cross with a bullet header that left goalkeeper Agustin Rossi with no chance onThursday.
Flamengo controlled almost two-thirds of possession but managed only one shot on goal for the Thursday night.
The second leg will be played at Rio de Janeiro's Maracana Stadium next Thursday.
