Srinagar, April 11 -- In a tribute to one of Ladakh's most revered war heroes, the union Territory administration will establish a memorial in Leh to honour Colonel Sonam Wangchuk (Retd), Maha Vir Chakra awardee and the "Lion of Ladakh," who passed away following a heart attack on Friday.
The memorial aims to enshrine his legacy of courage, leadership, and unwavering devotion to the nation.
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, said the memorial will be constructed in Leh in consultation with the family, the Army, and local representatives.
"The memorial will stand as an enduring symbol of Ladakhi valour and pride. His bravery shall continue to inspire generations to come," he said in a post on X.
