Srinagar, June 1 -- The Ladakh Haj Committee has urged the Centre to airlift the luggage of returning Haj pilgrims directly to Srinagar, saying that the proposed road transportation of nearly 30 kg baggage per pilgrim from Ahmedabad would cause "serious hardship", particularly for elderly pilgrims returning to Ladakh after completing Haj in Saudi Arabia.
In a formal representation to union Minister for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Chairman of the Haj Committee, UT Ladakh, Ghulam Abbas Abidi, said several Ladakhi pilgrims currently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) have expressed serious concern over the new baggage arrangement communicated by the Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee and the Haj Committee of India....
