Srinagar, Sept. 5 -- Ahead of the September 9 meeting of a sub-committee with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in New Delhi, the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) on Saturday announced the cancellation of the proposed Ladakh Padyatra from Kargil to Leh.

The KDA is one of the two prominent Ladakh groups, along with the Ladakh Apex Body (LAB), engaged in dialogue with the Centre over the region's key demands.

The padyatra was proposed from September 10 to 24 by activist Sandeep Panday, general secretary of the Socialist Party of India, to express solidarity with Ladakhis seeking statehood, constitutional safeguards and justice for victims of last year's violence.
