Nagpur, June 24 -- A labourer died after falling from a height while carrying out work at the Air Force Headquarters premises in Nagpur, officials said today.
The deceased, identified as Umesh Mahadev Dhurve (50), had reportedly been associated with painting work at the Air Force premises for nearly 22 years. He sustained critical injuries after the fall and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Following the incident, officials of the contracting agency and the Air Force held discussions with the deceased's family.
The contractor assured financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the bereaved family.
The amount will include insurance benefits and ex gratia compensation, officials said.
