Bengaluru/New Delhi, July 15 -- union Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Wednesday turned the tables on Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in the escalating Bidadi township row, accusing the Congress government of reviving a project that had remained dormant for nearly two decades while attempting to shift the political blame onto him.

Rejecting Shivakumar's contention that the Congress was merely implementing decisions taken during the JD(S)-BJP regime, Kumaraswamy said the state government was selectively invoking historical approvals to justify fresh land acquisition, while ignoring his government's assurance that no farmer would be displaced against his or her will.
