Mysuru, April 10 -- A sharp political flashpoint erupted in Karnataka on Friday as union Minister HD Kumaraswamy challenged Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to quit the Congress if he truly considers himself a champion of the AHINDA communities, and prove his strength by forming a new party and winning at least five Assembly seats independently.

He dismissed the CM's criticism of "family politics" against the JD(S), and accused Siddaramaiah of hypocrisy on the issue of family politics. Kumaraswamy questioned the CM's moral authority to criticise rivals, and also took aim at the Congress for what he termed as "double standards" across states.
