Bengaluru, Sept. 8 -- Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy today attributed the recent unrest in Maddur to the state Congress administration, alleging that the ruling party's actions had created an environment of discontent among the Hindu community.
Speaking on the incident during Ganesh immersion celebrations in Maddur, Kumaraswamy said a few miscreants had thrown stones during a procession conducted by the Hindu community, a situation reminiscent of similar unrest in Mandya district last year.
He urged the local population not to allow the situation to escalate into large-scale violence, warning that provocations could spark serious disturbances.
