Bengaluru, June 20 -- Karnataka politics erupted into a fresh controversy on Saturday after union Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy launched a sharp escalation against the Congress, alleging that its leaders offered Rs 40-50 crore each to JD(S) MLAs in an alleged attempt to engineer defections.
Kumaraswamy's claim has immediately intensified political tensions in the state, reviving long-standing accusations of horse-trading and destabilisation tactics.
He alleged that senior Congress functionaries were actively reaching out to JD(S) legislators with "direct monetary inducements" aimed at breaking the party's legislative strength.
