Ranchi, March 1 -- The Kudmi community on Sunday organised a large 'Adhikar Maharally' in Ranchi, reiterating its demand for inclusion in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category and for recognition of the Kudmali language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
The rally was held at Prabhat Tara Maidan in Dhurwa under the banner of the Brihad Jharkhand Kudmi Samanvay Samiti. A large number of women, men and youth from different parts of the state participated.
Participants said the gathering reflected the unity and resolve of the Kudmi Mahato community. They demanded that Kudmi Kurmi Mahato be shifted from the Other Backward Classes category to the Scheduled Tribe list.
