Hyderabad, July 19 -- BRS Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday said encouraging art and recognising talented artists is the responsibility of society, while assuring support to organise the Cartoonist Shekhar Memorial Awards on a larger scale from next year.
Speaking at the Cartoonist Shekhar Memorial Awards-2026 presentation ceremony at the Press Club in Somajiguda, KTR presented awards to cartoonist M Naru and artist Kurella Srinivas.
He said interactions with artists, writers and poets were refreshing amid political life and highlighted the influence of cartoons on society, recalling the contributions of legendary cartoonists such as R K Laxman and praising several Telugu cartoonists.
