Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 3 -- The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has suffered an estimated Rs 25.43 crore loss due to the extremely heavy rainfall that battered the state, causing widespread damage to its power distribution network.
According to a preliminary assessment as of 4 pm on August 3, the rain-related damage affected 2,892 transformers, disrupting electricity supply to 6,56,770 consumers across Kerala.
KSEB said 349 high-tension (HT) poles and 2,599 low-tension (LT) poles were damaged, while 248 HT lines and 7,212 LT lines snapped in different parts of the state. A total of 233 transformers remain completely submerged in floodwaters.
