Kolkata, June 30 -- Kolkata Police has denied permission to both factions of the Trinamool Congress to hold a July 21 Martyrs' Day programme at Dharmatala, citing traffic and public inconvenience concerns in one of the city's busiest areas.
Lalbazar officials informed both the Kalighat faction led by Mamata Banerjee and the rival Ritabrata faction that no political programme blocking roads would be allowed at Dharmatala.
Both groups had sought permission to organise separate programmes in front of Victoria House on July 21 to observe Martyrs' Day.
