Kolkata, June 18 -- The International Yoga Day celebrations scheduled for June 21 at Red Road in Kolkata will go ahead without any legal hurdle after the Kolkata High Court declined to grant an interim stay on the event.
A petition had challenged the state government's notification restricting movement on Red Road for the programme.
During the hearing on Thursday, the High Court dismissed the plea for interim relief, effectively allowing the event to proceed as planned.
However, while giving the green signal for the programme, the court issued several directions to the police administration to ensure public convenience and minimise disruption.
