Kolkata, Sept. 7 -- In another case of gang rape, a 20-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by two acquaintances on her birthday in an upscale locality of Kolkata, police said today.
The incident occurred in Regent Park, on the southern fringes of the city, on Friday night. The accused, identified as Chandan Malik and Deep, a government employee, have gone missing since the crime.
According to police, the survivor, a resident of Haridevpur, stated in her complaint that Chandan had taken her to Deep's flat under the pretext of celebrating her birthday. After dinner, the two allegedly confined her inside the apartment and gang-raped her.
The woman managed to escape around 10:30 am yesterday and narrated the incident to her family members...
