Kolkata, May 24 -- Acting on Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's "zero tolerance" policy against illegal constructions, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Sunday launched demolition drives at three locations in the city - Tiljala, Kasba and Beleghata.
Civic workers began pulling down allegedly illegal structures early in the morning amid tight security arrangements.
Police and central forces were deployed in the areas to prevent any untoward incident during the operation. Bulldozers were also brought in for the demolition work.
According to sources, all three structures under demolition are allegedly linked to local leaders of the All India Trinamool Congress.
