Kolhapur, April 15 -- More than 100 villagers were injured, 12 of them seriously, when they were attacked by a swarm of bees as they were gathered for the last rites of a fellow villager, at Yelavade village in Radhanagari tehsil of this district.
According to Radhanagari tehsil police, more than 100 villagers, including relatives of the dead person, were gathered at the cremation ground for the last rites, and were waiting for a crow for the 'Raksha Visarjan' ritual.
At that moment, a crow hit a honeycomb, which was on a tree there. The irate bees attacked the gathered people, who tried to run from the spot.
