Tirumala, March 17 -- In view of Ugadi Asthanam on March 19, the traditional temple cleansing fete, the Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam was conducted as per Agamas at the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, the TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu said that participating in the Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam is a blessing earned through merits of previous births.
The TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary stated that it is customary to conduct Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam on the Tuesday preceding major festivals viz. Ugadi, Anivara Asthanam, annual Brahmotsavams, and Vaikunta Ekadasi.
He informed that the Moolavirat was covered with a cloth and the temple purification rituals were performed.
