New Delhi, April 25 -- KL Rahul said he was "very pleased" with his match-winning knock after being adjudged Player of the Match, describing it as the result of long-term preparation and a conscious shift in approach to modern T20 cricket.

Rahul said he was happy to see his work behind the scenes translate into runs for the team, adding that the knock came at a crucial stage where he felt he helped his side reach a winning total.

He revealed that a significant part of his preparation over the past year had been done with Abhishek Nayar, focusing on refining both white-ball and red-ball skills.

However, he emphasised that the immediate focus had been on adapting to the evolving demands of T20 cricket and performing in the IPL.
