New Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug. 25 -- union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday said efforts were underway to secure new coal blocks for Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), reduce wasteful expenditure and improve production, while urging the Telangana government to clear Rs.55,000 crore in outstanding dues owed to the company.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Kishan Reddy said coal from Singareni's Naini block in Odisha would be supplied to the Yadadri power plant.

He said steps had also been taken to secure the Tadicherla-2, PKOC-2 dip-side and Manuguru PKOC dip-side blocks for Singareni.
