Hyderabad, July 15 -- Doctors at KIMS Hospitals, Kondapur, have successfully performed a highly complex 10-hour surgery to remove a rare functioning paraganglioma from a woman who had been battling the condition for nearly eight years after two previous surgical attempts at other leading hospitals were abandoned.
The surgery was led by Dr. Ravula Phani Krishna, Senior Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist and HPB Surgeon. The tumour, located behind the pancreas, had encased major blood vessels, including the celiac trunk, superior mesenteric artery (SMA), portal vein and aorta, making it one of the most challenging surgical cases.
