Bengaluru, April 19 -- Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the women's reservation legislation, questioning its delay in implementation and accusing the government of "playing to the gallery" on the issue.

Speaking to reporters, Kharge drew a clear distinction between the delimitation bill and the women's reservation bill, saying both were being wrongly mixed in political discourse. He said the delimitation proposal was opposed because it was "against SCs, STs and states going for elections," and claimed that several parties had collectively worked to defeat it.
