Srinagar, June 19 -- The Kashmir Farmers Federation (KFF) has demanded the immediate implementation of the Crop Insurance Scheme in Jammu and Kashmir to ensure the protection of the interests of the farming community.

The federation demanded that the government declare the heavy damage caused to orchards, fruits, and standing crops due to the continuous strong winds and hailstorms in recent days as a natural disaster, as it has severely affected the economic condition and livelihood of farmers.

These demands were made at an extraordinary meeting of the Kashmir Farmers Federation, chaired by its chairman, Abdul Rashid Hanjura on Thursday.
